Theodore Learns About Divine Word College

A Curious Turtle's Adventure

Theodore the turtle was crawling through a garden when he saw a big building. "What's that?" he wondered.

His friend, a wise owl, flew down and said, "That's Divine Word College, Theodore. It's a special school."

"What makes it special?" asked Theodore.

The owl explained, "It's a place where people learn to help others around the world. They study to become priests, brothers, sisters, and helpers in the Catholic Church."

Theodore's eyes widened. "Wow! That sounds interesting. Tell me more!"

The owl continued, "The college was started by a group called the Divine Word Missionaries in 1964. But their story goes back even further!"

Theodore leaned in, excited to hear more.

"Long ago, in 1875, some kind people in a place called the Netherlands started this group. They wanted to send helpers to different countries."

"Did they go far?" Theodore asked.

"Oh yes!" hooted the owl. "By 1879, they sent their first helper all the way to China!"

Theodore's shell tingled with excitement. "That's so far away!"

The owl nodded. "And in 1895, they sent someone to America too. They built schools to teach more helpers."

"So, this college teaches people to be helpers?" Theodore asked.

"Exactly!" said the owl. "People come here to learn languages, study books, and prepare to help others in many countries."

Theodore looked at the building with new eyes. "It's amazing how much I learned about one building!"

The owl smiled. "That's why it's good to be curious, Theodore. There's so much to learn in the world!"

Theodore nodded happily. "Thank you for teaching me, Mr. Owl. I can't wait to see what I'll learn about next!"
