Theodore Learns About Bungoma, Kenya

Theodore the turtle was excited to explore a new place called Bungoma. It was a town in Kenya, a country in Africa.

Bungoma sat at the foot of Mount Elgon, a big mountain. The area got lots of rain, which helped grow many crops. Farmers grew sugarcane, corn, and other foods.

Theodore saw sugar factories and mills where they made sugar from the sugarcane. He also spotted dairy farms with cows and chickens.

Every two years, Theodore learned there were special ceremonies where young men became adults. This brought visitors to see the traditions.

In town, Theodore peeked into shops, banks, and hotels. He saw a big bus station where people came and went.

Theodore was amazed to learn Bungoma got its name from a group called the Bong'omek who used to live there long ago. Even though they left, the name stayed.

As he headed home, Theodore thought about all the interesting things in Bungoma - the farms, factories, and traditions. He couldn't wait to tell his friends about this special place in Kenya.
