Theodore Learns About Andrei Pop
Theodore the turtle was crawling along the library shelves when he spotted a book about an interesting person named Andrei Pop. He opened it up and started reading.
Andrei Pop was born in Romania but moved to America when he was young. He loved learning about art and became a professor who teaches others about it.
Theodore discovered that Andrei studied at famous schools like Stanford and Harvard. Now he works at the University of Chicago, where he thinks about big ideas related to art, philosophy, and science.
One of Andrei's special interests is how art from the 1800s connects to new ideas in math and logic from that time. He wrote a whole book exploring this, called "A Forest of Symbols."
Theodore was fascinated to learn that Andrei also translates books from other languages. He helped translate an old German book about ugliness in art into English.
As Theodore finished reading, he felt inspired by how Andrei combines many different subjects in his work. The little turtle decided he wanted to learn more about art and big ideas too!
