Theodore Learns About an Important Government Job in Ceylon
Theodore the turtle was swimming in a pond one day when he overheard two frogs talking about something called an "Auditor General." Curious, Theodore swam closer to listen.
"The Auditor General is a very important job," said one frog. "They make sure the government is using money properly."
Theodore had never heard of this before. He wondered what exactly an Auditor General did.
The frogs went on to mention someone named D.S. De Silva. They said he was the 30th Auditor General of Ceylon, which Theodore learned was the old name for Sri Lanka.
"D.S. De Silva only had the job for a short time," croaked the second frog. "He started on September 14, 1963 and finished on February 21, 1964."
Theodore was surprised it was such a short time. He imagined important jobs like that would last longer.
The frogs explained that before D.S. De Silva, someone named L.A. Weerasinghe had the job. And after him, it was B.L.W. Fernando.
Theodore found it interesting to learn about this important role in the government. Even though it happened long ago, he thought it was neat to know about the people who helped make sure money was used correctly.
As the frogs hopped away, Theodore dove underwater, his head full of new knowledge about Auditors General and the history of Ceylon. He couldn't wait to share what he learned with his turtle friends.
