Theodore Learns About a Village in Punjab

Theodore the turtle was exploring India when he came across a small village called Garhi Fateh Khan. He was curious to learn more about this place.

Theodore discovered that Garhi Fateh Khan is located in the Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar district of Punjab. The village has about 887 people living there. Most of the villagers speak Punjabi.

As Theodore wandered through the village, he saw many small houses and farms. He learned that many people in Garhi Fateh Khan work as farmers.

The village has a school where children can learn. Theodore thought that was wonderful. He peeked in a classroom window and saw kids studying math and reading.

Theodore was impressed by how the village was run. It has its own local government called a gram panchayat. The villagers elect a leader called a sarpanch to help make decisions.

Before leaving, Theodore visited the village post office. He found out mail for Garhi Fateh Khan gets sent to the nearby town of Rahon first.

Theodore enjoyed learning about life in this small Punjab village. He waved goodbye to the friendly villagers as he continued on his journey through India.
