Theodore Discovers Saint Basil Academy

Theodore the turtle loved exploring new places. One day, he came across a big, beautiful building.

"What's this place?" Theodore asked his friend, a wise old tree.

"This is Saint Basil Academy," the tree replied. "It's a special home for children who need help."

Theodore was curious to learn more. The tree shared some interesting facts:

  • The academy is in a place called Garrison, New York.
  • It used to be the home of a man who owned a baseball team.
  • Famous baseball players like Babe Ruth visited here long ago.

"What happens at the academy now?" Theodore wondered.

The tree explained:

  • The Greek Orthodox Church bought the property in 1944.
  • They turned it into a school and home for children.
  • Over the years, they built more buildings to help more kids.

Theodore learned that the academy has changed over time:

  • It used to teach children itself, but now they go to other schools.
  • The academy takes care of children from many different places.
  • It helps kids who have had hard times in their lives.

As the sun set behind the big building, Theodore thanked the tree for teaching him about Saint Basil Academy. He felt happy knowing there was a place to help children in need.
