Theodore Discovers Dry Lake in South Dakota

Theodore the curious turtle was on an adventure in South Dakota when he came across a strange lake. He noticed it wasn't like other lakes he had seen before.

"What's so special about this lake?" Theodore wondered.

He learned this was Dry Lake in Codington County. It got its name because it was often dry in the past.

Theodore found out Dry Lake sits high up, 1,742 feet above sea level. That's as tall as 174 turtles stacked on top of each other!

Even though it's called Dry Lake, Theodore saw there was water in it now. He decided to take a swim to cool off.

As he paddled around, Theodore thought about how interesting it was that a lake could sometimes be full of water and other times be completely dry.

He was glad he got to visit Dry Lake and learn about this unique place in South Dakota. Theodore couldn't wait to tell his turtle friends about his discovery when he got home.
