Theodore Discovers a Cambodian Cycling Champion
Theodore the turtle was paddling through a cool stream when he noticed a shiny bicycle wheel spinning by the water's edge. Curious, he swam closer to investigate.
"Hello there!" called a friendly voice. Theodore looked up to see a smiling man standing next to the bicycle.
"I'm Yi Yuong," the man said. "I used to ride bicycles like this one in big races."
Theodore's eyes widened with interest. "Wow, really? What kind of races?"
Yi Yuong explained that he was a cyclist from Cambodia who competed in the Olympics many years ago. In 1964, when he was 27 years old, he traveled all the way to Tokyo, Japan for the Summer Olympic Games.
"I rode in a special race called the team time trial," Yi Yuong told Theodore. "My teammates and I worked together to pedal as fast as we could over a long distance."
Theodore imagined a group of cyclists zooming along, their legs pumping in unison. "That sounds exciting!" he exclaimed.
Yi Yuong nodded. "It was a great adventure. I'm 86 years old now, but I still love riding my bicycle and sharing stories about my Olympic days."
As the sun began to set, Theodore thanked Yi Yuong for telling him about his cycling experiences. The turtle felt inspired to try new challenges, just like the Cambodian Olympian had done so many years ago.
